I do not like anything about hormone implants: they are an added expense for the producer; I don't believe they are good for the animal; and I do not want that elevated hormone level in the meat I'm eating.  At some point we have to quit treating our animals like pieces of machinery to be manipulated anyway we can think of, and start treating them like biological beings, with the understanding that biology is complex.  I would argue that this is good advice for people as well.
